Biography
Pia Baltazar is an intermedia composer and indisciplinary researcher, living and working in Montreal, Canada and Brussels, Belgium.
She creates installations, performances and hybrid forms involving sound, light, wind and various sensory materials. She often creates site-specific works in relation to places, situations, contexts…
Her artistic research interests revolve around the creative possibilities of the encounters between the senses (vision, hearing, touch...) and on the involvement of physicality and spatiality, both in the creative process and the aesthetic experience. Through all this, she is interested in liminal states of perception and consciousness, and how these generate specific modes of temporality and relationality.
