Some Light in the Crumbling

With Saba Alizadeh and Saint Rémi Church.

This site-specific work was created during a short residency in Brussels, including one day in Saint Rémi Church in Molenbeek, Brussels at the invitation of collective Zwaab.

Pía and Saba worked with the space, a large church that is not used any more for liturgic, since it is partly crumbling apart. They worked particularly with the acoustics of the church, by placing several loudspeakers in different locations of the space, to generate the sonic materials of the piece in interaction between the instruments, their own custom audio-digital apparatuses and the specific acoustics of the place.

The piece was presented in concert on June 8, 2025 and was recorded with minimal equipment, that was however enough to give an impression of the performance.
